So, I hear that the chip-twee duo Chalkboards is almost done with their new album. Let me be the first to say that this is going to be awesom-azing stuff. Mark them words. I am super pumped.
Cubic Spectrum is a 16” x 20” screenprinted poster based on an NES demo I wrote last year. This limited edition poster is now available for purchase from New Flesh Prints! I am donating part of the proceeds to Girlstart, a local organization that encourages girls’ involvement in STEM. If you like this, please consider reblogging. Thanks!
Hi, friends! The time is drawing near!
This Party Time! Hexcellent! poster has been designed by yours truly and printed by Austin-based screenprinting wizards New Flesh Prints. The design is based on an NES demo I created called Cubic Spectrum. These signed and numbered, limited-edition posters will go on sale on Monday, January 30. At that time, you’ll be able to order one online at newfleshprints.com. Or, if you’re in Austin, come by Dorkbot 33 at the ATX Hackerspace, where I’ll be talking about NES software development and visuals. We’ll have posters available for purchase there, too! Dorkbot 33 kicks off at 7:00 pm. I hope to see you there!
(P.S. I’ll repost this on Monday when they actually go on sale. There’s only so much one can remember over the span of a weekend.)

New music alert! Check out Isn’t It Wonderful That We Are Together Again? by the ever-adorable Chalkboards, based here in Austin! This album is thoroughly charming. You can check it out on their Bandcamp page and/or buy a CD with handmade inserts and cover. Also, FYI, I’m going to make it my personal mission to get them to play a show here in Austin. Like, soon. So stay tuned. B)
“gameboy. bell kit. drum kit. melodica. toy casio. plastic instruments and love. a collection of loose electronic jams and digital soundscapes accompanied by a tiny orchestra of warm melodies. an album about love and feeling loved.”
Hey, friends! If you’re going to be in Austin tomorrow, please stop by the ND @ 501 Studios for Short Indies. Jacob Weiss will be showing his Austin chiptune micro-doc called RETRO FUTURE. Jacob and I will be there for a cast and crew Q&A. There will be several other short indie films and free beer ‘til it’s gone.
Doors open at 6:30pm, $4 for 21+, $5 for <21. I’ll see you there!
Haha, thanks! It’s a good place to hang out. All it needs is some of that blacklight arcade carpeting ;). Also, note to self: Put on makeup and do hair before being filmed. And don’t show unfinished ROMs nnnghhhh :x.
